Ider 77-Valley Head 57

RAINSVILLE, Ala.— The Ider Lady Hornets faced the Valley Head Tigers Monday night in the first round of the 2016 Dekalb County Basketball Tournament.  They defeated the Tigers to increase their record to 12-8.

The Ider Hornets took no time in jumping to an early lead against Valley Head. The led the Tigers 21-3 in the first quarter.  Going into halftime, they had took the 43-29 lead and never looked back.

Coming back from the half, they maintained the lead and ended the third quarter with a score of 56-40.  Ider finished strong and ended the game with a 77-57 score over Valley Head.  Hannah Culpepper led the Hornets with 23 points and seven rebounds.  Two players from Ider had double-double for the night.  Dani Townson had 19 points and 11 rebounds.  Morgan Flynn had 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Two players from Valley Head scored in the double digits.  Sierra Chambers led the Tigers with 20 points.  Morgan Blalock followed closely behind with 16 points for the night.
