FYFFE, Ala. — There aren't many players who can brag about winning one, or even two, state championships, but three? That might just happen for Fyffe senior Brody Dalton if the Red Devils baseball team continues its winning streak.
The Fyffe Red Devils boast a perfect 16-0 record in Class 3A, Area 14 as they head into senior night on Thursday against Asbury.
Winning more than one state championship in a single season for multiple sports is a rare occureance, and it has only happened 14 times in the history of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) sponsorship. No team has ever won more than two state titles within the same season.
This academic year, Fyffe could be the first. The Red Devils have won state championships in football and basketball, and are aiming for another trophy for their undefeated baseball team.
"So far, this season we've played pretty well and we're trying to take it one game at a time," said Coach Brad Thomas. "Nobody has ever done all three sports in the same season, and while we're excited at the prospect of making history, we're just keeping our head in the game."
Fyffe will round out their regular season with the following games:
- Fyffe vs. Asbury at home on Thursday, April 8 at 5 p.m.
- Fyffe vs. Asbury at Albertville on Saturday, April 10 at 10 a.m.
- Fyffe vs. Collinsville at home on Monday, April 12 at 4:30 p.m.
- Fyffe vs. Kate Duncan Smith DAR at Grant on Tuesday, April 20 at 5 p.m.
The Fyffe Red Devils Cheerleaders, who cheer our state champions on, have claimed numerous state championships, including 2020.
