An absolute battle takes place at the Hornet's Nest and a loaded senior class will try to get the first win of their careers against a region rival as we look at the Friday Night Nuggets.
Crossville Lions (0-8) vs Sardis (4-5)
The Lions have been remarkably better at home than they have been on the road this season, as every team should be...but these splits are massive.
Crossville's margin of victory is -5 at home and -35 on the road. Continue to pound the ball at a rate of 40 rushing attempts and 200 rushing yards per game and you may be able to upset one of your rivals to end this tragedy.
Crossville +13
Sylvania Rams (3-5) vs New Hope (4-5)
Two teams wrapping up disappointing seasons face off in Sylvania on Friday night. The story for both of these teams are the QBs, bc they both look like D1 prospects during warmups...but so did Bart Raulston.
Looking at the film, this will be one of the more entertaining games to watch this week and I do believe that the Rams are the better team. Cambron to Wooten late for a W and a potential shot at a .500 season.
Sylvania -3
Valley Head Tigers (4-3) vs Woodville (3-5)
Three wins doesn't seem like something to get excited about, but with the history of the Woodville football program this may be the most dangerous they've ever been. However, after starting 3-0 they've lost their last 5.
A win here would really create some momentum heading into a rivalry game to end the regular season. As always for the Tigers, the winning formula is game management from Kirby and a lot of carries for "Stump".
Valley Head -18
Ider Hornets (5-3) vs Section (4-4)
BIG. PHYSICAL. BATTLE. Two teams built on pounding their opponent square off at the Hornets Nest this Friday night with Playoff implications on the line.
Both teams are going to stack the box and both teams are going to run right at one another. If you're a fan of old school...this one is tailor made for you.
Ider -3
Fyffe Red Devils (8-0) vs Collinsville Panthers (3-5)
Before the season started this one was circled on our schedule. After week 3 this one was circled on our schedule. After week 8 this one is an afterthought.
Jalyn Martin started the year just like he said he would, racking up record pace yardage and all purpose TDs...but as the schedule stiffened for the Panthers the team seemed to lose it's way and the battle in the trenches, and with that Martin's quest for 2k yards vanished.
Austin Stiefel, on the other hand, has put together as impressive as a season as any player in the state. Even so, it almost seems under the radar because the entire Big Red Machine has been so dominant.
The Panthers will miss the postseason while the Red Devils will look to end the postseason in Jordan-Hare. This one gets ugly...
Fyffe -38
Geraldine Bulldogs (7-1) vs Plainview Bears (7-1)
What if I would've said "Geraldine gets blown out to open the season, then loses Marcus Davis for the year and are a home win away from going undefeated in the region"? I'd be telling you exactly what's happened. Maddox, Benitez, Jimenez and a host of scrappy others have reeled off 7 straight wins and will look to try and punch Plainview in the mouth to take home the region title.
Plainview on the other hand has been relatively healthy all season and has yet to stumble since their opening loss to #3 ranked Glencoe (14-28). The Bears have an embarrassment of skill players on the edge and "The Human Joystick" to run behind Gravitt and "Mount McDaniel".
Bad matchup of styles for Geraldine here as Jayse Pruitt & Co. will look to get the first win of their careers against the smash-mouth Bulldogs.
Geraldine +11
