BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Fort Payne Indoor Track Team had an overall fifth-place in the Class 6A Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Indoor Track and Field Competition on Saturday.
The top five teams in the State Competition were Northridge, Mountain Brook, Homewood, McGill Toolen, and Fort Payne.
Fort Payne received second place honors in the 4x800 meter place. Team members of the 4x800 team are Maddie Jackson, Anahi Barboza, Reese McCurdy, and Aylin Vega. Fort Payne placed third place in the 4x400 relay. Team members of the 4x400 team are Maddie Jackson, Madi Wallace, Maggie Groat, and Madisyn Hill.
Madi Wallace earned a bronze medal in the 60-meter hurdles. Wallace won the Class 6A State Championship in the 60-meter hurdles last season. She participated in four events on Saturday and finished her indoor track career with a bronze medal, fourth-place in the long jump, and a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter dash.
