
RAINSVILLE, Ala. — On Wednesday, the players hit the court for the fourth annual First State Bank Shootout.
At 7pm, the Plainview Bears took on the Scottsboro Wildcats. The Bears defeated Scottsboro 71-54.
Plainview took the early 24-14 lead in the first quarter and by the intermission, they led the Wildcats 39-26. In the third, the Bears scored 23 points to the Wildcats 15 and finished out the game with a 71-54 advantage.
Koby Tinker of Plainview led the Bears with 28 points with Hayden White and Caden Millican each adding 12 points. Tinker also led the team with eight 3-pointers and six rebounds. White had four 3-pointers and six rebounds.
The Bears advanced to take on the Class 6A Albertville Aggies. The Aggies narrowly defeated Plainview 66-64.
Albertville took the early lead in the first period, scoring 24 points to Plainview’s 20 points. At intermission, the Aggies held a 39-37 advantage over the Bears. The Bears outscored the Aggies 19-7 in the third period, but Albertville closed out the game with a 66-64 win.
Koby Tinker led the Bears with 22 points and five 3-pointers. Caden Millican followed with 19 points and five 3-pointers. Hayden White finished with 12 total rebounds.
The action tonight will begin at 4pm with the championship game beginning at 8:30pm in the DeKalb County Schools Coliseum. Look for full coverage of the final game in next week’s edition of The Southern Torch.
