Bulldogs give Davis first win

GERALDINE, Ala.-- The Geraldine Bulldogs celebrated Homecoming with a 60-6 win over the Asbury Rams on Friday night and gave Coach Michael Davis his first win as Head Coach.  

In the Class 3A, Region 7 opener for Geraldine, the Bulldogs scored on the first play from scrimmage on a 35-yard touchdown run by Caleb Hall with 9:40. The point-after attempt was good to give Geraldine the 7-0 lead with 9:40 remaining in the first quarter. The Rams punt was blocked by Eli Slaton resulting in a safety for the Bulldogs, giving them the 9-0 lead with 6:54 remaining in the first. The Asbury kickoff was returned by Colt Lusher for the Bulldog touchdown. With 6:37 remaining in the first, Geraldine had the 16-0 advantage. With 4:37 remaining in the opening quarter, Jaxon Colvin scored on a quarterback keeper. The PAT was blocked but increased the Bulldog lead to 22-0 over Asbury. Carlos Mann added another touchdown with 2:06 remaining in the first, on a 60-yard run, giving Geraldine the 29-0 lead. After an Asbury fumble, Kobey Hill scooped up the ball for the Bulldogs. Colvin brought in another 30-yard quarterback keeper to score. The extra point by Danny Felipe increased the Bulldog lead to 36-0 with :45 seconds remaining in the first. 

The Bulldogs added two more touchdowns in the second quarter. Kobey Hill brought one in from 29-yards out with 9 minutes remaining in the first half, to increase the Bulldog lead to 42-0. Bo Harper added another touchdown on a quarterback keeper with 3:35 remaining in the second. The Bulldogs went into intermission with a 48-0 advantage over the Rams.

With 5:03 remaining in the third quarter, Eli Slaton went over the left guard for the Bulldog touchdown, giving the Bulldogs the 54-0 lead over Asbury.  

After carrying the ball a few times on the drive, Eli Schlagether cashed in on a quarterback keeper, with 7:34 remaining in the game, making the score 60-0. Asbury avoided the shutout on a 5-yard scamper into the endzone with 3:02 remaining in the game, making the final score of the night 60-6.  

Geraldine spread out the offense with ten different players touching the ball. The Bulldogs finished the night with 387 rushing yards. Jaxon Colvin led the Bulldogs with 78 yards on two carries and two touchdowns. Carlos Mann had 59 yards on one carry and a touchdown. Bo Harper finished out the night with 60 yards on three carries and a touchdown.  

On Friday, the Geraldine Bulldogs will host the Class 5A Sardis Lions.
