Members of the Hannah White Arnett Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution met on September 17th at St Philip’s Episcopal Church to celebrate Constitution Day by the ringing of bells. The U.S. Constitution was signed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Pennsylvania State House (now Independence Hall) on September 17, 1787, at 4:00 p.m. Every year DAR encourages churches, schools, state/city governments, courthouses, fire stations, veterans’ homes, civic organizations, and individuals to ring bells, large and small, on September 17th. Ringing the bells at 4:00 p.m. CDT in all time zones is encouraged so that they are heard simultaneously from coast to coast. Participation, whatever time it is in any area, is an important goal.
