In 2010, Nathaniel Ledbetter ran on the Democratic ticket against incumbent Todd Greeson (R) for the District 24 Alabama House Seat and was defeated.
Ledbetter is now making another run at the State House, but this time as a Republican. The party change has been questioned by some local Republicans and now Ledbetter's ballot access has been officially challenged.
Here is an excerpt from the official challenge letter submitted to the Alabama GOP:
The Candidate Committee of the Alabama Republican State Executive Committee has voted to consider the merits of this challenge at a hearing to be held in Montgomery on either next Friday, February 21 or Saturday, February 22 at the GOP Summer Meeting.
At the hearing, Ledbetter will have 10 minutes to present his reasons why the challenge to his candidacy should not be sustained and to respond to the allegations against him. The challenger will have 10 minutes to present to the Candidate Committee and prove the necessity of removing the challenged candidate from the ballot.
