Greeson Under Fire - Southern Torch

A Madison County man has challenged the ballot access for a number of GOP candidates, including candidate for District 8 Senate Todd Greeson (R-Ider).

Tom Scovill, who many consider a "watch dog", lists Greeson's ties to the AEA and voting record during his tenure as House Rep (HD24) as key reasons for the challenge.

Alabama GOP Chief of Staff Harold Sachs told Southern Torch that a 21-member State Steering Committee will now be convened on February 14 to decide if the challenge against Greeson warrants consideration. If a sufficient case can be made Greeson and Scovill will appear separately in front of the committee approximately 2 weeks later.

A simple majority (11 votes) is then required to actually deny a candidate ballot access.
