With the recent announcement from Harold Bobo (D) that he will not seek another term as the District 1 Board of Education Representative the question becomes, "who fills the seat?"

The seat represents the Collinsville and Crossville portions of DeKalb County. Numerous names have surfaced on a potential bid for the seat regardless of Bobo's status, but now the first serious contender has stepped forward.

Jeff Patton (D), a Collinsville resident, is now the only actual candidate to make the decision to run for the BOE but has yet to officially file qualifying paperwork.

This will be Patton's first experience in the political arena.
