YRNEA Founder Passes the Torch to Wilks

The Young Republicans of Northeast Alabama met on Thursday night to elect officers for the 2015-2016 cycle.

The YRNEA was founded in February of 2013 by Jordan Doufexis and peaked with 191 registered members following a Great Gatsby Social held in Fort Payne in August of 2013.

"Two years ago I wasn't sure if anyone other than Ashley Stanford and myself would show up for the first meeting. Now we have an entire administration of qualified, energetic, charismatic, quality people that I couldn't feel better about."

"In that first year I would worry about what would happen to the Club when I stepped down, but this new administration proves that we've built something that's sustainable and is leading Northeast Alabama today and into the future."

- Jordan Doufexis

Tyler Wilks, who recently defeated incumbent Martha Crye Ogle (D) in the race for DeKalb County Revenue Commissioner, was elected as the new Chairman of the Young Republicans of Northeast Alabama.

"I'm honored to be the new Chairman of the Young Republicans of Northeast Alabama. Thank you to Jordan Doufexis and his vision to get this club started 2 years ago.

Congrats also to Andrew Hairston for being elected Vice Chair, Scott Wynn Treasurer, and Reah Monroe Secretary. I look forward to serving with you."

- Commissioner Tyler Wilks
