The DeKalb County Schools’ leadership remains unchanged after the Republican primary vote Tuesday, with Superintendent Wayne Lyles, District 3 board member Carol Hiett, and District 4 board member Monty Darwin all winning their races.
In the race for DeKalb County Commission District 2, incumbent Terry Harris will face a runoff with Brent Rhodes.
With no Democrats qualifying for any of the local races, the wins in the primary make those candidates the presumptive winners.
Unofficial vote totals in the local races were:
DeKalb County Commission District 2
Terry Harris -- 917 – 35.72%
Brent Rhodes -- 1,045 – 40.71%
Scott Westbrook -- 605 – 23.57%
Superintendent, DeKalb County School Board
Heath Kirby – 3,706 –41.10%
Wayne Lyles – 5,312 – 58.90%
Member, DeKalb County Board of Education, District 3
Carol Hiett – 1,221 – 63.10
Carolyn B. Stiefel – 714 – 36.90%
Member, DeKalb County Board of Education District 4
Monty Darwin – 1,163 – 65.82
Tyler Ward – 604 – 34.18
