Commission Recognizes Leadership DeKalb

DeKALB COUNTY, Ala. — At this week's meeting of the DeKalb County Commission, Grace Presbyterian Church senior pastor Dave Latham of Leadership DeKalb addressed the Commission. Leadership DeKalb has 17 leadership participants this year. 

Latham discussed the class projects for this year, including an April 4 "DeKalb Cares Day," a countywide day of service to help the Animal Adoption Center, CASA, Father's House, The Gathering Place, Landmarks of DeKalb County, and litter pickup throughout the County.

In other business, the Commission awarded a bid for seal treatment in District 1 to Corrective Asphalt Materials in the amount of $76,551. 

Michael Posey of the DeKalb County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) requested a travel expense for Eric Middlebrooks for the Emergency Management Basic Academy. The EMA also accepted a bid for a diesel utility vehicle in the amount of $13,675 to Boykin Tractor.

The DeKalb County Sheriff's Office requested the hire of Justin Bailey as a full-time corrections officer to replace Sam Young.

The next meeting of the DeKalb County Commission will be held on Tuesday, March 10 at 10am.
