A.J. Buckner wins Jackson County Commission District 3 election with 4,108 votes.

Voters re-elected A.J. Buckner to Jackson County Commission District 3 in the Primary Election held Tuesday, March 5. Buckner will face no Democratic opponent in November’s General Election.
Buckner who received 4,108 votes, defeated Hugh Lewis, Jr., who received 2,347.
This will be Buckner’s second term on the commission. Bucker, at the courthouse Tuesday night, said he is looking forward to continuing the work he has been doing with the commission over the past several years.
“It’s wonderful to get the vote of the people, and to get such a vote of confidence,” Buckner said. “It’s exciting about the future we have ahead. We have a lot of great projects in the pipeline, and it’s wonderful to know that we have the opportunity to continue to work together.”
Buckner said the campaign was not a one person operation and was thankful for those who helped him along the way, whether it was making phone calls or encouraging people to vote.
Buckner said he was also thankful to those who cast a vote for him on Tuesday.
“It’s wonderful to see when voters exercise their rights, and when they put their confidence in you,” he said. “Thank you for trusting me today, and I promise to do you the best job possible,” Buckner said.
