HENAGAR, Ala. — The final count is in, Henagar is officially wet! The final tally has the YES vote at 388 (57%) and the NOs at 290 (42%).
The town has been embroiled in the debate since enough voters signed a petition to include the referendum on the ballot last month. The YES vote showed up in force to make Henagar the newest wet spot on Sand Mountain.
An open mayor's seat and council races likely helped surge turnout. Over the last month, the town has seen yard signs defaced and active campaigning for both sides of the argument.
Opposition to the referendum has been largely organized by church and evangelical groups, but on election night, the voters have spoken.
One of the many signs left on private property without permission!!! If you leave a sign without permission it is considered abandoned and is property of the property owner to due with what they wish..including but not limited to putting the owners message on it!
