On June 28, the Paint Rock Volunteer Fire Department held a car show fundraiser to raise money for needed equipment at the department. Mikey’s Kustom Shop hosted the event and provided trophies for the winners. Over 31 vehicles were entered into the show.
Fords, Dodges, Chevrolets and other vehicles lined the grass along the walking trail behind Paint Rock’s Community Center. Both vintage and new cars wowed attendees with their polished trims and clean engines. A camper van called Avocado Dreaming displayed a dream glamping experience. There was a food truck and plenty of space for vendors at the venue.
For Teresa Price, entry to the show meant helping a community in need. For years, Price competed in benefit car shows with her Hello Kitty-Themed Smart Car that her husband, Randy, painted. Trophies she won from previous car shows lined the open back hatch of the car. The Prices gave out Hello Kitty goodies to children who attended the event.
Firefighters, Darrell Roberts and Bobby Wilbourn, said the funds from the car show would be used to purchase Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses or SCBAs. The SCBAs were designed to help firefighters breathe while in dangerous smoke-filled environments.
Joanna Roberts, Mayor of Paint Rock, said the fire department stayed extremely busy with calls and served not only the Paint Rock Valley but also Woodville, Limrock and Pleasant Groves.
“I’m so glad to see the community come together to help out our firefighters in getting them the new equipment and air-packs they need,” Roberts said.
Roberts said she was pleased with the turnout and looked forward to possibly having another car show next year.
