POWELL, Ala. — After an uncertain year filled with video rehearsals and virtual performances, the NACC Department of Music is pleased to announce a return to live music with “Blame it on the Boogie”, a disco tinged, funk-filled journey on the soul train back to the 1970s!
This unique drive-in concert experience will feature performances by the NACC Chorus, Jazz Band, and Encore on May 6th at 6:30 pm in the parking lot of the Beck Health and Fine Arts Building.
“Our Music Department is always creative with their presentations, and they always are professional and well-trained,” stated NACC President Dr. David Campbell. “Outdoor CDC guidelines also will be followed, and this will be a COVID-19 safe event.”
Concert goers will need to bring their own seating, and as a part of NACC’s campus COVID-19 protocols, will need to maintain the proper social distance while wearing a mask or other face covering. Concert attendees may also enjoy the concert from the comfort of their vehicles!
“This is the music of both mine and Stacy’s (NACC Director of Instrumental Ensembles) childhoods, and we have had a blast preparing it with our students!”, said Sara Markham, Director of Vocal Ensembles. “Even though this concert will look very different from ones in the past, we are thrilled to be able to make music together again!”
Director of Instrumental Ensembles Stacy Morris adds, “The music of the 70’s had many different styles and genres, and this concert will explore that.“
Admission is free, and the event is open to the public. If the weather on May 6th doesn’t allow for an outdoor performance, the concert will only be available through streaming.
