Municipal elections are slated for the City of Fort Payne on Aug. 26. Polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. It is important that every citizen has the opportunity to hear what the candidates hope to accomplish. 

Times-Journal and Southern Torch will host a Fort Payne Municipal Election Candidate Forum. It will help give Fort Payne voters the information they need to make informed decisions.

Candidates for Mayor are incumbent Brian Baine and challenger Pete Davis.

Candidates for Fort Payne City Council include Walter Watson (i), Lynn Brewer (i), John Smith (i), Clint Beason, Richard “Coach” Camp, Beau Genelin, Mike Grant, Carl “Pete” Little, Ken Mayo, Todd Simpson, Leslie L. Vaughn, Scotty Vaughn, Chad Williamson, Heather Wooten and Jeff Young.

All candidates qualified to run for offices are invited to attend and give voters a chance to see and hear them.

The forum will be held in the historic Fort Payne Opera House, located at 510 Gault Avenue North in Fort Payne.

Those who do not make it to the forum, should be able to watch it on the Southern Torch Facebook page.
