Douglas delivers dominating performance to take home varsity crown

It was a memorable week for the Douglas Lady Eagles varsity softball team, as they took home the 2025 Marshall County Tournament championship after defeating DAR twice and Asbury.
Douglas would produce two shutouts and would outscore their opponents 31-4 to claim the county crown. All-County Tournament players for Douglas included Chloe Green, Zoe Wright, Kayley Aguado and Ella Kate Adams, who was crowned Marshall County Tournament MVP.
Douglas vs. Asbury
The Lady Eagles were led to victory against Asbury in their first tournament matchup by Bella Baker, who pitched three innings and produced nine strikeouts.
The Lady Eagles’ bats were on fire, as eight players had two hits. Arleigh Mitchell, Zoe Wright, Ella Kate Adams, Chloe Green, Abbi Collins, Bella Baker, Laney Duvall and Kayley Aguado all produced two hits. Mitchell, Baker and Aguado had two RBIs each, while Collins had three RBIs.
Douglas would whip Asbury to a score of 18-0.
Douglas vs. DAR
The Lady Eagles would face off against the DAR Patriots in their second tournament game. Adams would get the start and pitch five innings for the Lady Eagles. Adams produced four strikeouts and allowed three hits and three earned runs.
Green and Collins would lead the offense, with each going 2-for-3 for the game. Hannah Whisenant produced two RBIs for Douglas. The Lady Eagles would triumph over the Patriots to a close 6-4 score.
Douglas vs. DAR
Douglas and DAR would meet again in the Lady Eagles’ third and final tournament matchup. Douglas would see another great performance by Baker, who pitched six innings. Baker allowed two hits and zero runs while striking out 11 batters.
Adams would lead the offense going 3-for-3. Adams would produce a triple in the third inning and two singles in the first and fifth innings. The Lady Eagles put the game away in the fifth inning, as they scored five runs on five hits.
Mitchell would score after tagging up, Baker would triple and bring in two scores, Whisenant would single and bring home one and Aguado would single and bring in a run. The Lady Eagles would produce 11 hits for the game.
Douglas would claim the 2025 Marshall County Tournament championship with a 7-0 win over the Patriots.
