Tennessee man killed in Mud Creek boating incident

At approximately 10:20 p.m. on Sunday, a marine-related incident took place in Mud Creek on Lake Guntersville, claiming the life of one man.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports that Christopher Gray, 43, of Dellrose, Tennessee, was a passenger onboard an airboat while bowfishing when the vessel struck a tree limb, where Gray was thrown into the rear of the boat against the cage surrounding the propeller, sustaining fatal injuries. Gray was pronounced dead on the scene.

The operator, Ty Whisenaut, 43, of Union Grove, was injured and transported to the hospital.

No further information is available as ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division is continuing to investigate the incident.
