A three foot by two-foot box that sits in the driveway of the Alder Springs Community Center is right now much needed to people who might have food insecurities.
The “Blessings Box” is filled with non-perishable foods for those who may need it.
According to a 2023 hunger report, 1 in 3 residents, about 32% did not know where their next meal was coming from at some point between May 2022 and April 2023.
Community members had seen another town have the box for their residents and asked the community leaders if Alder Springs could also have one.
Everyone agreed they wanted to be a community who gives back.
A small saying on the box reads, “Take a blessing when you need one. Leave a blessing when you can. Be a blessing to others by being a helping hand.”
Non-perishable food items are inside the box for those who need it and non-perishable donations can also be brought and left. If someone has a need, they can place a note inside the box for others to see and possibly be helped.
The box is open 24/7 and located at 5867 Hustleville Road in Albertville.
