VALLEY HEAD, Ala. — The Valley Head Tigers defeated the Woodville Panthers, 56-6 in Class 1A, Region 7 action on their Homecoming Friday night.
From the first play from scrimmage, Bryson Morgan brought it in from 65-yards out. The extra point attempt failed, giving the Valley Head Tigers the 6-0 lead. With 6:03 remaining in the first quarter, Jackson Peek made the 59-yard connection to Cam Talley to bring the ball down the field. Peek scored on a 5-yard quarterback keeper to tie the game. With 5:33 remaining in the first, Jordan Burt connected with Morgan with a 30-yard touchdown pass. Burt converted the 2-point conversion to take the 14-6 lead over the Panthers. After three and out, Valley Head took possession of the ball. Burt connected with a 10-yard pass to Noah Hulgan for the touchdown. The extra point was good, giving the Valley Head Tigers the 21-6 lead, at the end of the first quarter. Jackson Peek was injured in the first quarter, forcing the Woodville Panthers to try several different players in the quarterback position.
The Tigers started out the second quarter, quickly scoring a touchdown, giving them the 28-6 advantage over Woodville. The Tigers then scored, with a 6-yard touchdown run by Hunter Robison. The PAT by Noah Hulgan was good, giving the Tigers the 35-6 lead. Valley Head found a way to score on defense when Luke Harrison recovering a fumble in the end zone. The PAT by Noah Hulgan gave the Tigers the 42-6 with 3:00 remaining in the first half.
In the third quarter, the Valley Head Tigers recovered the ball for another defensive touchdown by Eian Bain, giving the Tigers the 49-6 advantage over the Woodville Panthers.
In the fourth quarter, Eian Bian took the ball back 92 yards on a quarterback keeper for the score, making the final score 56-6.
This win gave the Valley Head Tigers a 3-1 record and put them 2-0, in Class 1A, Region 7.
Valley Head will travel to take on Gaylesville, Friday night.
