DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. — Tuesday, Nov. 10, 10:50 p.m. — There has been an unexpected twist in the DeKalb County Special Election held today to fill two open Constable positions. DeKalb County Constable District 4 Candidate Billy Whitt ran unopposed on today's ballot. However, as of 10:50 p.m. an unexpected effort to elect write-in candidate Wendy Bobbitt has the election too close to call. Election officials called in Circuit Judge Jeremy Taylor tonight to sign an order to allow boxes from three precincts to be physically transported to the DeKalb County Courthouse to count remaining write-in votes. Two of the three boxes are in and the vote count is 49 votes for Billy Whitt and 48 votes for Wendy Bobbitt. The final box contains three write-in votes. It is being transported to the DeKalb County Courthouse and should be arriving within the hour. In the race for DeKalb County Constable District 1, Republican Kyle Pike has defeated Democrat George Roberts with Pike winning 67% of the vote.
