This past week, the coaches for DeKalb County softball teams made their selections for the 2025 All-County team.
Plainview’s sophomore Abby Williams was selected as the Most Valuable Player. Plainview junior Piper Anderson was selected as Pitcher of the Year. Sylvania senior Molly Weaver was selected as Defensive Player of the Year.
Ider's David Hughes was named the DeKalb County Coach of the Year.
The Plainview Bears led the way with seven players named to the All-County team. Joining Williams and Anderson were senior and Shelton State signee Graidin Haas, junior Faith Odom and Bri Sims, sophomore AnnaLee Shrader, and seventh grader Ellie Fleming.
The Bears finished the 2025 season with a record of 37-10-1, winning their ninth DeKalb County Tournament in a row, East Regional champions, and finished tied for 5th Place in the Class-4A after making their ninth straight state tournament appearance under Head Coach Jeff Brooks.
The Ider Hornets (36-16-1), winners of the Class-1A area 15 tournament and making a trip to the state tournament, finishing tied for 5th Place in Class-1A, had five players selected. Junior Makinley Traylor, senior Miklyn Troxtel, junior Brynley Traylor, freshman McKenna Mitchell, and Kahlan Greeson were the Hornets selected to this year's team.
The Collinsville Panthers (19-17) under second-year Head Coach Ali Moses won the Class-3A Area 13 tournament and made the East Regional. The Panthers had four players selected to this year's county team: sophomore Ellie Coker, freshman Jemma Smith, and Aubrey Reeves, and seventh grader Maelee Barkley were named to this year's team.
The surprise team during the last month of the season was the Red Devils from Fyffe (9-23). The team upset the Geraldine Bulldogs to earn a spot in the East regional tournament. At the regionals, the Red Devils made their way to the winner's bracket final. Fyffe had five players selected for this year’s team. Seniors Kendra Fay, Madelyn Hawkins, Nevaeh Smith, and juniors Samantha Galloway and Ellie Stone were the Red Devils selected to this year's team.
The Geraldine Bulldogs (16-12) had four players selected to this year’s team. Kennedy Cook, Alice Jordan, Amelia Cofield, and Callie Bearden.
The Sylvania Lady Rams (11-19) had three players selected, led by Defensive Player of the Year and Gadsden State signee Molly Weaver. Weaver was joined by Mara Anderson and Braelyn Hastings.
Lexi Coffeman, Raegan Key, and Olivia Harrison represented the Valley Head Tigers, who finished the season with an 11-21-1 record.
Closing out this year's county team are Brooklyn Andrews and Jocabed Velazquez from Crossville.
