The top seeds in the Jackson County Tournament’s varsity boys division will play for the championship.
Top-seeded Section and second-seeded North Sand Mountain punched their tickets to the championship game thanks to convincing semifinal-round wins Thursday night.
The championship game is Friday at 8 p.m. at North Sand Mountain High School in Higdon.
Here is Thursday’s varsity girls semifinal recaps and the updated Jackson County Tournament Schedule/Results:
Section 81, Pisgah 52 — The top-seeded Lions used a 17-2 first-quarter run to take control en route to the semifinal victory over the fourth-seeded Pisgah.
It’s Section first county finals appearance since 2022.
Section (16-7) led 24-14 after one quarter and was in front 44-28 at halftime and 63-38 after three quarters.
Jake Cloud scored 24 points and Brodie Overdear netted 22 for the Lions, who also got got nine from Aiden Thomas, seven from Luke Swinford, six from Jackson Leroy, four from Kam Tinker, three from Aaron Thomas and two each from Jackson Cooper and Tyler Green.
Caleb Jenkins scored 20 points, Xander Bell netted 13 and Cape Duncan added 10 for Pisgah (4-11), which also got four from Jackson Smalley, three from Landon Shaver and two from Keishaun Quarles.
NSM 57, North Jackson 36 — The second-seeded Bison are headed to the county finals for the sixth time in seven seasons thanks to a semifinal win over third-seeded North Jackson.
NSM (16-7) led 18-9, 37-20 and 52-26 at the quarter breaks.
Brody Helton scored 18 points, Slayden Powell netted 10 and Duncan Wilks added eight for the Bison, who also got six from Jack Johnson, five from Owen Brooks, four from Jayden Bell and three each from Brady Anderson and Creek Higdon.
ZZ Taylor scored 12 points and Bodie Burnette added 11 for North Jackson (6-10), which also got six each from Jordan Moore and Nick Price Jr. and one from Aiden Andrews.
