On June 6, 1944, the Allied forces stormed the beaches of Normandy, France in the D-Day invasion of World War II.

Operation Neptune (the official codename for the operation) was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation laid the foundation for the Allied victory on the Western Front.

There were 4,414 Allied soldiers confirmed dead, with over 10,000 documented Allied casualties.

Today we honor the sacrifice the Allied soldiers made on this day 78 years ago.
