FORT PAYNE, Ala. — After the Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce announced the cancellation of their annual Halloween Block Party, Southern Torch has filed an application with the City of Fort Payne to host our own block party on Halloween night.

The application was submitted on Tuesday, September 29. According to the ordinance that governs time, place, and manner regulations in Fort Payne, the Chief of Police will review the application and make a recommendation of approval or disapproval to the City Council. The council will then vote to approve or deny the application. The submitted application asks for the closure of Gault Avenue North between 2nd Street and 5th Street. The new Southern Torch office is located in the 200 block.

Southern Torch will continue to update our audience on this developing situation.

If approved, we encourage all businesses or churches to participate and the public to attend and enjoy the holiday, while continuing to be mindful of social distancing. Southern Torch always wants to serve our community by supporting our businesses and citizens alike.
