ASBURY, Ala. — The Ider Hornets defeated the Asbury Rams with a score of 48-20 on Friday night.
Jacob Higdon struck early in the first quarter scoring on a 9-yard run with 8:35 remaining in the first. The extra point by James Krebs was good, making the score 7-0. With 3:05 remaining in the first, Justin Wood stampeded down the field for 85 yards to score. The point after attempt failed, giving the Hornets the 13-0 lead. With 20.5 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Seth Hawkins brought one in from 10 yards out. The extra point gave the Hornets the 20-0 advantage going into the second quarter.
With 10:10 remaining in the second quarter, Hawkins brought one in from 69-yards, making the score 27-0 over the Rams. With 15.7 seconds remaining in the first half, Asbury put their first points of the night on the board, making the score 27-7 going into the half.
With 8:25 remaining in the third quarter, Higdon scored once again with a 44-yard gallop into the endzone, giving the Hornets the 34-7 lead.
Gage Gass caught a 6-yard touchdown pass for Ider, with 5:55 remaining in the game, to give the Hornets the 41-7 advantage. With 2:10 remaining in the game, Asbury scored a touchdown to bring the score to 41-14. With 1:50 remaining to play, the Hornets added seven points with a 80-yard run by Luke Jackson. With only 24.3 seconds remaining in the game, Asbury rushed in for the final touchdown of the night, making the final score of the night 48-20.
Ider will host the North Sand Mountain Bisons at home for their annual Pinkout game.
