HENAGAR, Ala. — At approximately 5 am this morning (Thursday, November 2, 2017) , a devastating fire destroyed a home owned by Henagar Mayor Lee Davis. According to Henagar Fire Chief Jeff Crump, the incident is currently under investigation and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
No injuries were reported due to the fire. The home was reportedly unoccupied at the time due to remodeling, and it was near being completed.
According to Chief Crump, the call came in to emergency services at 5:09 am this morning. The home is located on Davis Road within the Henagar City limits.
When asked about the status of the structure, Crump said, "the house would be considered a total loss."
The Henagar Fire Department, Henagar Police Department, Sylvania Fire Department, Ider Fire Department, the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office, and the Alabama State Fire Marshall all responded to the call.
We'll update with more information if it becomes available. We ask that you keep Mayor Davis and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Davis is expecting another child soon.
