RAINSVILLE, AL – The DeKalb County Fine Arts Theatre opens their biggest musical yet - The Addams Family – to the community this weekend. The cast and crew consists of over 30 students across DeKalb County representing 7 different schools. Director Madison Hagler states, “This show is definitely the most technically-advanced show DCFA Theatre has done, and I think audiences will agree it’s one of the best. The students are doing an amazing job at bringing these iconic characters to life. If you’ve seen the television show, then you will instantly recognize these wacky characters who embrace darkness, grief, and unspeakable sorrow in a light-hearted manner.”
The students have put in over 100 hours of rehearsal into this production to bring audiences not only the grandest show yet, but an incredibly skilled performance. Students fill every position from the cast on stage to running the lights and sound. Hagler states, “You’ll be amazed at the choreography, the beautiful set, and the hilarious script. Don’t miss it; it’s going to be one to remember!”
Performances of The Addams Family will be held at the Fort Payne City Auditorium on April 14-15 and 21-22 at 7:00pm. Tickets are selling fast, less than 40% remaining! They can be purchased in advance at www.DCFAtheatre.com or at the door. Seating is reserved and concessions will be available for purchase at intermission.
The DeKalb County Fine Arts Theatre is directed by Madison Hagler. Students across the DeKalb County School system are bussed to the DeKalb County Technical School in Rainsville for daily classes and then participate in after-school rehearsals to produce full-scale theatrical productions. While the class at the Tech School is only available to students in grades 9-12, the productions put on by DCFA Theatre are open to all students in DeKalb County grades 7-12.
DCFA Theatre is honored to be supported by Mr. Wayne Lyles, the DeKalb County Board of Education, Mr. Jonathan Phillips, and their many community sponsors.
