SYLVANIA, Ala. — A 13-year-old child was struck by a vehicle while waiting for the school bus earlier this morning. The child was standing on the side of the road when the incident occurred.

The event occurred in the County Road (CR) 884 and 949 area.

Sylvania Police Chief Eric Tidmore verified the incident and stated that the victim had been transferred to DeKalb Regional Medical Center to be checked out. No criminal charges have been filed at this time.

Tidmore urged motorists to use caution as children are waiting to catch the bus each morning.
