GERALDINE, Ala. — In a battle of the Bulldogs,the Piedmont Bulldogs defeated the Geraldine Bulldogs, 26-6.
The game was delayed due to a power outage but it took Geraldine no time to light up the scoreboard. Andrew Hall bulldozed down the field for 64 yards to score with 5:47 remaining in the first half. The point after attempt failed but Geraldine took the early 6-0 lead.
On Piedmonts next possession, they scored on a 26-yard touchdown possession. The extra point helped them close out the first half with a 7-6 advantage.
Piedmont intercepted the ball and returned it for the 30-yard touchdown. The 2-point conversion failed, giving Piedmont the 13-6 lead. Two play later, Piedmont cashed in on a fumble to set up a 3-play touchdown. The two-point conversion failed but gave Piedmont the 19-6 advantage.
With 1:43 remaining in the game, Piedmont scored from 2-yards out . The point after attempt was successful, giving Piedmont the 26-6 win.
Andrew Hall led the Geraldine Bulldogs with 114 total yards and a touchdown for the night.
Geraldine (8-2) will host the Holly Pond Broncos (6-4) for the first round of the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) State Playoffs.
