Bears Attack the Lions

RAINSVILLE, Ala. — The Plainview Bears defeated the Brindlee Lions, 55-6 and earned a regional win on Friday.

Plainview struck early on a 73-yard quarterback keeper by Andrew McLaughlin.  The point after attempt was good, giving the Bears the 7-0 lead with 11:07 remaining in the first.    With 7:49 remaining in the first quarter, Brody McCurdy scored for the Bears on a 47-yard run.  The PAT was good, giving the Bears the 14-0 advantage.  With 4:53 left in the first, McCurdy scored again from 47 yard out.  The PAT was good and Plainview went up 21-0.   With :25 left in the first, Jesse Davis scampered into the endzone from 5-yards out to broaden the Bear advantage to 28-0.

With 8:57 remaining in the first half, McCurdy scored on a 40-yard gallop into the endzone, making the score 35-0.  With 4:38 remaining in the second quarter, Tony Rodriguez scores on a 18-yard run, making the score 41-0. Davis closed out the first half with a 25-yard stampede into the endzone to make the score 48-0 going into the half.

The Bears added their last touchdown of the night on a 15-yard run by Noah White. The Lions scored their lone touchdown of the night with 3:00 remaining in the game.

McCurdy led the Plainview Bears with 96 yards and three touchdowns for the night.  David Mejia was 5-for-5 on extra point kicks.

The Bears will travel to New Hope for regional play on Friday.
