DER, Ala. —The Ider Hornets fell to the Spring Garden Panthers 41-27 on Friday night.
Ider put the first points on the board with a 8-yard carry by Jacob Higdon. The extra point attempt failed. Spring Garden answered back with a 29-yard run. The PAT was good and the Panthers had the 7-6 advantage.
Seth Hawkins scored for Ider on a 52-yard quarterback keeper. Hawkins brought in the two-point conversion to give the Hornets the 14-7 advantage. With 3:00 remaining in the second quarter, the Panthers tied the game with a 43-yard pass connection. Spring Garden scored once more with a touchdown pass connection to close out the first half with a 21-14 advantage.
Ider scored on the opening drive of the third quarter with a 33-yard run by Higdon. The extra point tied the game, 21-21 with 9:50 remaining in the third. Spring Garden answered with a 10-yard touchdown to advance their lead to 27-21. On the final play of the third quarter, Ider tied the score once more , 27-27 on a 11-yard touchdown by Hawkins.
Spring Garden rallied in the fourth quarter, holding the Hornets and scored two additional touchdowns for the 41-27 win.
Higdon led the Hornets with 186 yards on 23 carries. He scored a touchdown an a two-point conversion for the night.
