RAINSVILLE, Ala. — Farmer's Telecommunication issued a statement late Thursday on the morning outage: On Thursday, August 3, 2017, FTC experienced a critical electrical system failure, resulting in an outage of all FTC services. Voice and digital television services were immediately restored. However, it took FTC approximately three hours to restore all Internet services. Our network management team responded immediately and worked diligently to resolve the issue.
FTC works on a daily basis to limit this type of incident from happening and we cannot express how sincerely apologetic we are. Minimizing impact to our customers is of key importance to us.
It’s amazing to see how much broadband/internet service affects our daily lives. Today, we experienced a short glimpse of how hard it would be to imagine life without it. Wow! It was like our lives and the world completely stopped. In some respects it did, and some businesses actually had to close due to the inability to make business transactions. We are very grateful to have the opportunity to provide our customers with services of great importance and deeply regret the inconvenience.
We would like to take this opportunity to apologize to our customers. Our FTC team will be taking all reasonable steps to prevent such failures from happening in the future.
Customer service is a priority for all FTC employees. Due to an outage of this magnitude, we experienced an immense amount of calls to our office that affected our ability to properly answer all incoming customer calls. Again, we sincerely apologize if you experienced an unanswered call or sudden disconnect.
We remain focused on serving our customers and strengthening our local connections to better carry out our cooperative mission. We can never thank you enough for choosing FTC as your communications provider.
