Story By Mary Bailey
It was with heavy hearts that the KDS DAR High School community and the Miracle League of Albertville announced that one of their valued community members and athletes, Jaxon Guffey, had passed away.
DAR High School made these comments on Monday morning, “It is with great sadness that we share the heartbreaking news that our student, Jaxon Guffey, passed away this morning. As all of you know, he was a valued member of our school community, and this loss is deeply felt by all who knew him. Please keep Jaxon’s family, classmates, and teachers in your thoughts during this very difficult time. Counselors and support staff will be available to meet with students and faculty who may need support; please encourage students to reach out if they come to you and are struggling. Further details regarding memorial arrangements or ways our school community can offer support will be shared as they become available.
Thank you for the care and compassion you continue to show to our students and to one another. Thank you to Dr. Wigley and the Central Office Staff for the beautiful wreath in Jaxon’s memory.”
The Miracle League of Albertville also spoke fondly of Guffey making these comments, “We come to you with heavy hearts as we share the passing of one of our Miracle League athletes, Jaxon Guffey. Jaxon had a million-dollar smile that could light up the Miracle Field and the hearts of everyone around him. Over his four seasons with us, he played with the Mud Hens, the Trash Pandas, the Royals, and the Pirates. Jaxon especially loved being pushed around the bases — the faster, the better — and his biggest smiles often came when a Snead State baseball player was the one giving him that thrilling ride. His joy was contagious to all who watched.
In the spring of 2024, Jaxon was honored as the very first recipient of the Grand Slam Kam Award, a recognition that celebrates not only a player’s love for the game but also the joy and inspiration they bring to others — something Jaxon embodied so beautifully.
Please keep Jaxon’s family and friends in your prayers during the difficult days ahead. His life and his light will be deeply missed by our entire Miracle League family.”
Jaxon Guffey’s services will be held at Grant Church of Christ on Wednesday, October 1, at 2 p.m. with Mark Hastings officiating. Burial will follow at Morris Cemetery on Merrill Mountain. Visitation will be at the Grant Church of Christ on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The family will accept flowers, or donations may be made to KDS DAR School, specifically for the LRC in Jaxon’s memory.
