Wilson & Fiquett, D.M.D., P.C. Spread More Than 150 Free Smiles on Saturday

Dr. Mark Wilson, Dr. Tim Fiquett and Dr. Mark Love worked together to complete their First Annual Dentistry From The Heart event on Saturday, April 12, 2014.

Dr. Mark Wilson and Dr. Tim Fiquett of Fort Payne, along with Dr. Mark Love of Russellville, were more than pleased with their first annual Dentistry From The Heart (DFTH) Event that occurred on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the office of Wilson & Fiquett, D.M.D., P.C., in Fort Payne, AL.

This event provided free dental care to more than 150 patients from North Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.

Patients began lining up at 1:30 a.m. on Saturday and when registration began at 6:30 a.m., approximately 75 people were anxiously awaiting dental treatment. The staff of Wilson & Fiquett, volunteers from the Northeast Alabama Community College Nursing Program and Medical Assistant Program, employees of Regional Dental Care of Jacksonville, as well as other volunteers helped to make this day possible.

“Without the help of these volunteers, we would not have been able to help as many people as we did. We are very thankful that they gave up a beautiful Saturday to volunteer their time to help such a wonderful cause.”

Many sponsors also helped to make this day a success. These sponsors included:

  • Hardee’s
  • Burger King
  • Jefferson’s
  • Bruce’s Foodland Plus
  • Builder’s Supply
  • Hick’s Toilets
  • The Slam
  • Desoto Printing
  • Wilson Funeral Home
  • Lucas Butts Videography

“We were overwhelmed by the amount of support we received from our community to help make this day possible. We are so thankful for the ones that reached out to help.”

With these patients being in such need for the care they received, the Doctors received many sincere, heart-felt thank you’s. One patient thanked Dr. Wilson for his work and stated, “thank you so much Dr. Wilson, this is the first time I have smiled in years.”
Fort Payne Mayor, Larry Chesser, also stopped by to thank Drs. Wilson and Fiquett, “This is definitely a worthwhile event for our city and it makes me proud to know that there are those willing to do volunteer work that folks would not get otherwise. On behalf of the city, I appreciate everyone involved in this Dentistry From The Heart Event.”
After 11 hours of hard work, Drs. Wilson, Fiquett and Love provided free dental care, which helped more than 150 patients. “We were very fortunate to have the opportunity to meet and help so many people. It was such a blessing.” Dr. Wilson said.
Dr. Tim Fiquett said of the event,

“This has been a very good day. Dentistry From The Heart is a very good thing and we will definitely be doing this again next year.”
