GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. — The Whole Backstage Community Theatre will hold auditions for its fall show, Noises Off!, on Thursday and Friday, August 8 and 9, at 6:30 p.m., and Saturday, August 10 at 10:00 a.m., with callbacks, if needed, on Sunday, August 11 at 2:00 p.m. With the generous support of season sponsor, Sonny Lewis, performance dates are October 25 through November 3, 2019.
Whole Backstage veteran Johnny Brewer will direct this 1982 British farce with a cast of nine requiring 5 males, and 4 females. This high-energy comedy is non-stop in which lovers frolic, doors slam, clothes are tossed away, and embarrassing hijinks ensue.
Noises Off! is a play within a play by the English playwright Michael Frayn, with dilemmas that develop early in the story. The plot centers around an ambitious young director and his company of mediocre actors in rehearsal for a potential flop, Nothing’s On. With hilarious situations and dialogues, the story takes the audience through action from behind the scenes, and then to witness the troupe’s performance.
