Thunder's run ends at World Series

Story By Heath Hambrick

The season for the Thunder 10U team ended Sunday morning in Baton Rouge. The Thunder fell to the Northport Nationals 13-2.

The Thunder scored the first two runs of the game in the top of the first inning. But in the bottom of the first, the Thunder surrendered 10 runs to Northport.

The Thunder were unable to answer as Northport added to its lead in the bottom of the second, scoring two runs, and another run in the bottom of the third, making the score 13-2.

Hunter Poe led the Thunder going 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored.

The Thunder finished the season with a record of 37-19-1.

Even though the season didn’t end the way the Thunder wanted it to, this group of young men have had an outstanding season. They have made memories this summer that they will never forget. And they should be proud of what they have accomplished.

And it’s safe to say that this group of young men has made the city of Fort Payne proud of what they accomplished this season.
