Activities in full swing at Scottsboro Rec*Com

Residents in Jackson County looking for things to do locally can find the Rec*Com has a lot to offer in forms of recreation and fun. From sports to splashes, the Rec*Com has a wide-variety of activities for all ages to enjoy.

Rambunctious kiddos who like to climb and run would like the recently-opened playground next to the Splash Pad. The play ground has slides, swings, climbing-areas and a gaga ball circle. After working up a sweat on the playground, kids of all ages can change into their swimwear and cool off at the Splash Pad next door. Watch out for the big yellow bucket though! It’s been known to drench people.

The Rec*Com is the place to go for anyone who is into basketball. With both indoor and outdoor courts, basketball-lovers of all ages can find enjoyment with their favorite sport there. For the skaters out there, the Rec*Com has a skate park outside next to the basketball courts. At the skate park, skaters can find a safe place to ollie and kick-flip their skater dreams into existence.

On rainy days or extra hot days, people looking for recreation can find it inside of the Rec*Com’s building. Racketball fanatics can enjoy the Rec*Com’s two air-conditioned racketball courts. The air-conditioned basketball courts can be a perfect for escape from the hot sun. On days where it’s just too brutal to do anything outdoors, the Rec*Com’s indoor swimming pool has been known to be the best place in town to cool off.

For those interested in fitness, there is a fitness room for ages 13-up and a walking track for those over 18.

The Rec*Com also offers a lot of group sports activities residents can enjoy. Signups for Adult Co-ed Softball are being held until June 16. Co-ed Flag Football signups will begin at the end of the month. There is still time for those interested to sign up for the 100 Mile Challenge.
