Shepherd's Cove to Hold Virtual Summer Soiree

Shepherd's Cove to Hold Virtual Summer Soiree

By Southern Torch Staff

Albertville – After months of COVID and quarantine, Shepherd’s Cove Hospice offers a chance to party virtually for a cause at the annual Summer Soirée event.

Typically an in-person event with dinner and live and silent auctions, the third annual Summer Soirée will look different this year with a new virtual format. Anyone can watch and bid online. The silent auction is currently open until 11:59 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24. Bidding on eight large live auction items will open noon Friday, August 21 and close during the live event, which starts at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 22.

“As a healthcare organization, we are committed to the health and safety of our community,” said Emily Sims, SCH special events coordinator. “We won’t compromise that for the sake of this event, but we can still have a fun and exciting night together while supporting a good cause.”

The auction will take place at https://shepcove2020.ggo.bid/. A few of the items available include:

  • a deep-sea fishing excursion in Gulf Shores, Ala.
  • a 4-night stay at a 6-bedroom cabin in Pigeon Forge, Tenn.
  • a spa experience valued at more than $400
  • a private dinner outing for eight
  • photography sessions
  • a teeth-whitening service
  • car care packages, and more!

While the new format is a first for Shepherd’s Cove, officials believe it could open new doors for people to participate and learn about its mission.

“This year is special because the virtual event allows us to reach individuals anywhere in the United States that might be interested in viewing, bidding, and learning about what we do here at Shepherd’s Cove,” Sims said. “We have the ability to reach more people than in past years.

“We are so excited about this year’s event. It’s going to look different, but the heart of it remains the same – to relieve suffering and provide hope for those facing the difficult end-of-life journey. By participating in this event, people can provide hope for a better quality of life through hospice care for those who would not otherwise be able to afford it. Shepherd’s Cove never turns anyone away for inability to pay. That is only possible because our generous community cares enough to give and participate in events like this.”
