The Rainsville City Council awarded a bid for paving work to Wiregrass Construction.
Phillips Engineering President Samuel Phillips told city leaders four bids came in on the paving job. Wiregrass Construction had the low bid of $575,396.58. Council member Ricky Byrum said this will complete asphalt paving of all the city’s tar and gravel roads.
The council also voted on a measure introduced at the last council meeting, repealling a portion of an ordinance that allowed special exemptions for the reduction of lot size requirements. That provision would have allowed people to seek approval for a lot as small as 5,000 square feet.
