Pruitt to Return to Plainview

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala.--(Full Video on Southern Torch Facebook Page) The DeKalb County Board of Education held its regularly scheduled meeting on June 3.

At the meeting, a contract was approved naming Dale Pruitt as the new Plainview Varsity Boys Head Coach.

Dale Pruitt graduated from Plainview High School and attended Jacksonville State University. Ironically, his first stint at coaching was at Pisgah High School where his son, Luke Pruitt, currently serves as the head football coach. Pruitt served two years at Pisgah, boasting an 18-4 record.

In 1984, Coach Pruitt was named as the head football coach at Plainview. The Bears had a 164-64 record during his seventeen years at Plainview.

After leaving to coach at Fort Payne, Dade County, GA and Marion County in Tennessee, Pruitt returned for his second run as head coach at Plainview. His team made the playoffs every year except one, before his departure in 2014.

Pruitt will be inducted into the DeKalb County Sports Hall of Fame on June 25.

The Board approved a $20,00 supplement from the Plainview Tipoff Club to Plainview Head Basketball Coach Robi Coker.

A reimbursement for Baseball Field Maintenance to the Town of Ider for $12,500 was approved.

The Moon Lake Elementary's remaining bank balance of around $10,000 was transferred to Valley Head High School.
