May 15 was designated as Peace Officers Memorial Day in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy. In honor of the day and Police Week, Kayron Guffey, Chair of the First Responders Board, Rainsville Mayor Rodger Lingerfelt, Captain Todd Bowen, Rainsville Assistant Police Chief Matt Crum, and Rainsville Police Chief Michael Edmondson placed a wreath in honor at the First Responders Memorial in the Rainsville City Park.
