Jackson County teams race in Pisgah Invitational

The Pisgah cross country teams opened their season with solid showing on their home course.

Pisgah finished second in the Small School (Class 1A-3A) Girls Division and fourth in the Small School Boys Division Saturday at the CamptoKnowHim Course in Pisgah.

Sand Rock posted a winning low score of 28, edging the Eagles (45) by 17 points. West End finished third (69) while Athens Bible (100) was fourth, Collinsville fifth (152) and Sylvania sixth (159).

The Eagles had five runners place in the Top-13. 

Pisgah four-time all-state runner Neveah Evans started her senior season with a third-place finish (23:41.69) while Katie Edwards was ninth (24:48.88), Allie Edwards 10th (24:50.74), Kerby Brooks 11th (24:54.97) and Addison Schultz 13th (25:32.08). The Eagles also got a 24th-place finish (27:53.14) from Lilah Schrader, a 25th-place finish (28:04.87) from Brooklyn Hutson, a 37th-place finish (29:51.23) from Addyson Barnett and a 44th-place finish (30:40.86) from Kenyde Givens.

Meanwhile, Bailey Aultman finished 22nd (27:23.69), Rachael Hamilton was 28th (28:44.31), Addyson Aultman was 58th (34:15.34) and Callyn Pace was 59th (34:21.63) for Skyline while Makenna Kirby finished 35th (29:36.89) and Adah Choate was 56th (24:03.02) for North Sand Mountain and Aspen Warren was 64th (38:42.91) for Section.

In the varsity boys division, Athens Bible (48) took the top spot while Sand Rock was second (51), Sylvania third (66), Pisgah fourth (87), West End fifth (120), Geraldine sixth (144), NSM seventh (202) and Collinsville eighth (223).

Triston Cuzzort finished fifth (20:05.04) and Emanuel Elizondo placed 12th (20:42.82) while Landyn Little (21:40.19), Leyton Givens (21:49.00) and Josh Lee (23:05.31) finished 20th, 24th and 36th respectively to round out Pisgah’s Top-5 finishers. Also for the Eagles, Jacen Schultz finished 41st (23:52.19), Tristan Hutson was 42nd (24:36.54), Hunter Huxtable was 48th (25:24.90) and Carsyn Roberts was 55th (26:37.02).

Jayden Leuras (22:50.26) and Owen Brooks (23:14.50) finished 33rd and 38th respectively for NSM while Noah Sanders was 61st (27:23.86), Dalton Lynn 63rd (27:58.35) and Eli Patrick 65th (29:24.50). Trevor Dover finished 23rd (21:46.29), Jackson Kennedy was 27th (22:20.30), Preston Dover was 47th (25:06.44) and Piercen Saint was 64th (28:11.99) for Section while Andrew Hamilton was 56th (26:37.55) and Jaxon Coats was 67th (30:07.78) for Skyline.
