FORT PAYNE, Ala.-- On Friday, July 16, Adamsburg Fire Chief David Evett, 43, of Fort Payne passed away.
Evett was a dedicated fireman serving as Chief of Adamsburg Volunteer Fire Department for nearly 15 years. He was employed by Heil.
Funeral services were held Monday at Wilson Funeral Home with Rev. Roger Redden and Rev. Ronnie Highfield officiating. A funeral procession, with fire trucks and first responders from across DeKalb County, lined Gault Avenue, from Wilson Funeral Home to Adamsburg Cemetery, paying their respects.
The family requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the Adamsburg Volunteer Fire Department, 471 County Road 270, Fort Payne, AL 35967.
“I have known David for many years. He was always quick to help and was always there when we needed him” stated Fort Payne Fire Chief Ron Saferite. “He is leaving a set of fire boots that will be hard to fill”.
Evett is survived by his wife Danielle Crider Evett; mother Janet Thornberry Evett; children Ethan Evett, Emma Evett, Colton Shankles, and Josie Shankles; sister Mandy Morton; grandmother Wanda T. Spillman; nephews Luke and Max; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Bobby Ray Evett.
