Met Gala hits the runway

Met Gala hits the runway

Story By MARY BAILEY

Saturday night the Marshall Technical School Cosmetology hit the runway for their 15th Met Gala in style.

The Sand Mountain Park was transformed into a picture-perfect New York styled event donning bright lights, cameras and models that would take your breath with their unique individuality and style.

“It was really beautiful! I was really impressed with the students not only on their individual skill but also being able to work with each other,” said Laura Thompson, MTS Cosmetology Instructor.

“The clock (on the floor) runway was extremely ambitious, but it worked, and I have had so many compliments on the set up.”

Thompson said there were several standout moments during the event Saturday.

“One was Cynthia Rivera’s model “Nerola;” her whole presence was incredible. Melissa Palma, the Met Gala Grand Master Winner, her model was definitely a wow moment for the crowd. The senior show, “Everlast: Dawn of tomorrow” was one of the best shows we have ever had. Seniors won every major award, that has not happened since 2020, so that was very impressive.”

Douglas senior Arianna Guzman said the senior show was nothing short of spectacular.

“The runway was packed with show-stopping models who brought each design to life with confidence and flair. The energy in the room was electrifying and the crowd went absolutely wild with every bold look that graced the stage,” Guzman said.

“The level of creativity in the fashion was phenomenal that stood out the most, I could see each piece showcasing unique artistry and vision. You could see the precise attention to detail in every makeup design, hair design, and accessory, making the entire show a true masterpiece. It was an unforgettable night, and I’m so honored to have been part of it! Truly an unforgettable way to close this chapter.”

Another senior, Guadalupe Nieto, said her final Met Gala Fashion Show experience was truly unforgettable.

“Seeing all the designs come to life on the runway was exciting, and the energy in the room was amazing. What stood out to me the most was the creativity and hard work that went into each outfit, every piece had its own unique style and story. The confidence of the models, the way everything flowed smoothly, and the crowd’s reactions made the whole event feel special. It was a moment of celebration and a perfect way to showcase all the effort that went into the show. It being my last one was definitely an emotional experience for me I truly cannot believe I won’t be doing it again next year, but I can’t wait to come back as an alumni next year!”
