Late Wednesday afternoon the Fort Payne Police Department accouced that an arrest had been made in connection to the bank robbery that occurred Tuesday morning in downtown Fort Payne.
Mark Loveless, 62 of Somerset, Kentucky was taken into custody with incident by the FBI Task Force Officers from Pulaski County Sheriff’s office in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
Loveless has been charged with first-degree robbery.
"I want to thank our officers for their swift response to the robbery and our investigators for their diligence in resolving this case quickly. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the FBI Birmingham for their prompt assistance and hard work as well," said Fort Payne Police Chief David Davis.
At approximately 9:20 a.m. Tuesday morning PNC Bank located at 200 Gault Ave North reported a robbery.
Loveless, wearing blue jeans, long sleeve button down shirt and black ball cap armed with a handgun walked into the PNC Bank in downtown Fort Payne. The male provided a note to the teller stating it was a robbery.
After getting approximately $3288.00 in cash Loveless exited the bank walking north on Gault Ave.
FPPD obtained video from local businesses from the downtown area that shows the Loveless walking to the bank and also images of the vehicle that he drove to and left the downtown area in. The Loveless vehicle was a gray Pontiac G6.

The cooperation of several local businesses and their owners, who allowed us access to their security camera footage, was instrumental in the apprehension of the suspect. We appreciate the community's backing during times like these and look forward to strengthening our relationship with local residents.”said Davis.

Mark Loveless is currently being held at the Pulaski County Jail, pending extradition back to Fort Payne, AL. He may also face federal charges in connection with the robbery.
