Officials at Northeast Alabama Community College are pleased to announce that recent NACC Engineering Technician graduates who took the certification examination for Engineering Technicians through NOCTI (National Occupational Competency Testing Institute) scored above state and national averages.
The 2015 Alabama average score is 70.4. The national average score is 70.6.
The 2015 NACC ENT graduates average score is 74.2.
The ENT program at NACC is in its fourth year and is already graduating students with average scores almost four points above national average. Plus, the college’s site cumulative score is above state and national averages. Since 2012, the NACC cumulative average score is 70.9.
“I am thrilled with the progress of the Engineering Tech Program here at NACC,” stated Deni Adkins, ENT Instructor. “To be scoring four points above national and state averages on certification exams with a program barely four years old is impressive. The administration has been very supportive, providing all the resources and training for which I have asked. Plus, the program incorporates some elements from other industrial programs on campus, which are top-notch. As we continue to make improvements in the Engineering Tech program every year, NACC will become the go-to college for Engineering Tech.”
NACC offers the Associate in Applied Science, Certificate, and Short-Term Certificate in Engineering Technology. The Engineering Technician Program at Northeast prepares students to be the eyes, ears, hands and feet of engineers. The ENT program includes courses in electrical, programmable logic controls, mechanical, structural, materials and project management, as well as quality and productivity. By understanding the language of engineering and various industrial systems, the engineering technician can assist engineers in designing, testing, building, operating, and maintaining systems in aerospace, energy, manufacturing, construction, and consulting.
According to America’s CareerInfoNet for 2015, the median hourly wage for engineering technicians was $29.57 in 2014. Earnings vary based on experience, education, and location.
“The Engineering Technology program provides excellent opportunities for students to enter or advance in the workforce,” stated Dr. Mike Kennamer, Director of Workforce Development at NACC. “Our graduates leave Northeast with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to contribute to industry.”
