FYFFE, Ala. — At the Fyffe homecoming game against Asbury, Waylon Elliott (great-grandfather of Payton Anderson) was honored as the first Fyffe football player to be named All-State.
Elliott played football for the Red Devils from 1944 to 1946. He was chosen as all-state in 1945.
He was named honorary captain for the night and walked onto the field with his great-grandson for the coin toss.
Mr. Elliott is a true Red Devil and at ninety years young, he looks as if he could still play today. Congratulations to Mr. Elliott on this achievement!
